The Allure Of Darkness.
“Even the purest of hearts are drawn to the allure of
darkness”
When does one feel like they are being drawn to the
darkness? And Why? Do we ever get answers in the places we are too afraid to look
into?
I've always been the kind of person who quite a lot of times,
puts things in the gray zone. What is the gray zone? It’s when things aren't
wrong or right, when they aren't black or white. Things which when put in
either category seem like they don’t belong there. Hence they are just gray.
So isn't being drawn to the darkness just gray too? Everyone
has their reasons to have chosen the wrong path, but that doesn't make their
choice wrong or their reasons wrong? Ppl start considering the scarier darker
path when they no longer find answers to their questions in the light. If
constantly being on the right path doesn't end our suffering then why wouldn't someone
want to try the darker route? If the darkness might lead us into the light of
being free of suffering and pain, then why not be drawn to the allure of
darkness, because even the purest hearts are allowed to have their low moments
in life, when they just can’t take the pain anymore and want a way out. Why
label them as bad ppl when they are just trying to find their way back to
goodness, just because they have been on the right path their whole life, doesn't
mean they get labeled as bad ppl for wanting to try another way out? That’s just
not fair. So its not black, it’s not wrong, it’s just gray. It’s just a matter
of perception. Because everyone isn't lucky to have made all the right decisions,
sometimes we make wrong decisions and that sets us straight, back on track.
Looking for Alaska, a book by John Green, amazing book I must
say, talks a lot about this labyrinth of suffering that we are all stuck in.
The book questions how do we get out of this suffering, whether there is ever
an end to it? I've come to think there might be a way out, but the way isn't always
gonna be a pure, right and white path. One of the protagonists in the book does
something which at that moment seemed to her as her only way out, after trying
to find peace all her life, she sees one opportunity to end her suffering, even
though it was thought as the wrong and selfish way to go by others, she chose
it anyway, because in that moment she did what seemed right to her, what seemed
like a hand stretched out promising to lead her towards peace and so she took
it, even though it was a dark path.
So yea even the purest of hearts are drawn to the allure of
darkness. And why not? If the darkness will lead us back to the light, to the
peace we seek, then why not? If it’s the only way left, then why not? At least it’s
better than living in regret of not trying everything to find your way out of
this suffering.
