Familiar Rain
Just tell me once that you love the rain too
With a satisfied grin, your forehead covered in damp muffled hair
Your glasses, If you wear any, hazy with dew and droplets of trickling water
Just tell me once right then
With the streetlights making the showers look orange
Your face a warm color of fire in the reflections and shadows
That you love the rain too
And I'll find 365 jars every year
Just to collect rain and send your way each day
Maybe then, on an excruciatingly sunny Saturday, you'd sit by your window,
Place a jar open and let the trapped magical petrichor float in your atmosphere
And we'd see that satisfied grin all over again.
