Absurd Rain

The most beautiful kind of rain is the spontaneous one, when its been a cold winter or hot summer day and all of a sudden the skies go dark, the winds are thicker, the city blanketed with dark and dangerous clouds. Its an uncalled for reminder by nature.

Its not like the first rain of monsoon, no. This is special, they call it "Bin Mausam Barsaat" in hindi.
Its not entirely dark, just a reminder of how dark it could get during the afternoon. Its not heavy rains, its just a drizzle, light but prominent. A stark difference from the scorching heat of the day around the coast.

The best feeling is walking out from your examination hall and finally seeing the wet ground, finally being able to smell the wet mud. Lets not forget the pretty droplets of water stuck on that tree whose name I never remember, its like a pine tree, incredibly thin long stem like leaves, the edge of these leaves holds the drops, so carefully, in this loving embrace.

Have you ever stood under a tree when it rained heavily? Have you taken shelter under a thousand leaves hiding from a thousand rain drops? If yes, have you noticed how the sky looks from the tiny crevices and holes visible from within the tree? Its witnessing a mighty storm from a minimal protected zone. Have you ever noticed that drop sliding down from the leave, almost falling each time the wind shakes everything in its path? After the leave holding on for so long, after the drop being stuck there for so long, after you staring at it for so long, it finally slides down and falls on your forehead making you blink and letting out a deep breath that you didn't realise you were holding. It touches your face like  lips from a sudden kiss full of love.

I really wonder how the rain in some other city would fall on my face. Would it be so loving and familiar?
