6 seconds apart

Everybody came back with something to hide

We ran away from each other, happily

To be honest I loved it that way

And then we were back

In six seconds

Smiling, hugging, telling each other how much we missed the other 

But did we? Maybe I didn’t, maybe I did

And I knew as I looked into each of their eyes everyday, that they all came back with secrets too

With baggage that we couldn’t share together anymore

It wasn’t as easy to just step out and take a walk now

It wasn’t as easy to hide in the washroom, crying together

It wasn’t as easy to share the horrible and the beautiful details

6 seconds had been a long time, although they snapped by like glass shattering 

Yet it felt so long now, because 

It wasn’t as easy to be friends anymore
