never felt so far from you

and just like that 

we grew up

all of our plans, split us up

I haven't seen your face or heard your voice

but we were always no questions asked 

not the best for a forever I suppose

are we friendly strangers now

or are we estranged friends who were lovers

the short window to go back 

has vanished 

the passage of time, it surely does not heal

but it does give meaning 

to the demise of us 

I won't be the first to call you 

on your birthday 

not anymore,
