One foot out
I am used to wearing my heart on my sleeve
Being too honest too soon
I’ve learnt my lessons though, and now
I tear the sleeve away, with a false pretence of being exposed
When in truth, my hearts buried away
I smile and I play along,
But I’m really just hiding in plain sight
Will you be a pleasant seasonal change?
Or will you make me sick like the ones before?
I’m a bit skeptical to find out
But I’ve had trouble escaping the allure of the unknown
So here I stand, one foot out the door
Isn’t that how you like it though?
