Escapism or freedom?
How many times have you though of just running away? Not even packing your bags or grabbing anything essential. Just running away? I bet you have. I bet you think about it quite often. To just scream and tell the universe to shut up and let you go, so you can just skip the whole journey, the journey that often is full of these rocks called pain and suffering.
But honestly, isn't that a bit selfish? Look at your parents, they weren't always this mature and wise, they were once confused, scared and broken like you are. They too had billions of doubts about their future, they feared failure like you do, they worked like robots and slagged their asses off to get where they are. Right? Then why can't you do it?
Have you ever bought a book and skipped the whole story and just read the climax? Or fast forwarded the movie to where everyone lives happily ever after? No. Why ? Because 1. That's a waste of money. And 2. Where's the fun it that?
We all are constantly chasing after the idea of an escape, so we can just for once, for a short span maybe forget our reality and breathe freely. Yet reality isn't so easy to get away from, it will keep pulling you back in. Escapism is merely temporary freedom. Complete freedom isn't possible is it? Because even if we were to get away, at some point you will be back to dissatisfaction.
Maybe freedom will come to you when you try to deal with your demons, your problems, your reality, instead of running away from it, hiding from it by actions that bring you momentary peace or fantasies.
I thought about this a lot, and well decided to put my thoughts onto a canvas. This was the result.
